California Dog Field

Welcome

As farmers we have land where our dogs can run free, but that did not stop us losing our Bavarian Mountain Hound Lottie when she ran away across fields and onto the bypass.

This made us consider the fact that there are very few safe areas around the village for local people to let their dogs off the lead safely – without getting in their car first!

That thought led onto the development of California Dog Field.

Why California? That’s because the field has been known as “California Gardens” for as long as anyone can remember.

The field is 2 acres and is fully enclosed by 1.9m fencing and dug-in rabbit netting around the base, to provide a safe, secure environment to allow your dog the freedom to enjoy the exclusive environment.

There is secure off street cark parking for 2 cars.

Booking

• Sessions take place 7 days a week during daylight hours.
• Each sesson starts on the hour.
• Each session is for 50 minutes - this allows a 10 minute changeover between hirers.
• Charges:

  1 - 3 dogs	£5 for 50 mins.
  4 - 6 dogs	£2 surcharge per dog above the 3 dog rate, up to a maximum of 6 dogs.
  (e.g. 3 dogs = £5, 5 dogs = £5 + £2 + £2 = £9.)

The field is located at corner of Lund Syke Lane and Common Lane, South Milford.

Terms and Conditions

By booking California you agree to the following:

• Liability
  No responsibility will be taken by the land owners for damage or injury sustained to property (including vehicles), individuals or animals whilst using the field. You, the hirer, use the field at your own and your dogs’ risk.
• Maintenance
  You must remove all your dogs’ poop into the bin provided or take it away with you. No litter is to be left in the field. Take all your dogs’ toys home with you. We inspect the field and fencing regularly but please notify us if you have any concerns.
• Entering/leaving the field and parking
  Car parking for two cars has been provided. On arrival enter through the first gate into the parking area. Keep your dog(s) in your vehicle until any previous hirer has loaded their dog(s) back into their vehicle. Keep your dog(s) on a lead until you are through the second gate and into the secure exercise field. Leave enough time at the end of your session to get yourselves and your dog(s) back into your vehicle before the start of the next person’s session – each session is 50 minutes in length to allow change-over time.
• Ethics
  All dogs using the field should be up to date with their inoculations and worming. If your dog(s) shows signs of illness on the day of your hire you agree to cancel your booking (the booking can be transferred to a future date). Choke chains, prong collars and electronic devices should not be used in the field.
• Children
  Children are welcome on the field but must be supervised by an adult at all times. Remember any toys or natural items in the field are for use by dogs not children!
• Bookings and Payment
  Bookings should not be transferred to another person. Booking is via text, WhatsApp or phone call to Suzanne Cawood.
  Payment, wherever possible, should be by bank transfer. Payment may be made in cash if the hirer does not have access to internet banking. Cash payments should be made at Burley House Farm, 45 Low Street, South Milford LS25 5AS (please note this is NOT the field’s address). Once payment has been made you will be issued with the field’s security code.
  You must not pass the code on to others – the code changes regularly.
  Bookings may be cancelled and an alternative time arranged at no extra cost, but we will not refund payment except under exceptional circumstances. Unless in an emergency, for morning bookings cancellations should be made the day before - by 5pm latest. For afternoon bookings cancellations should be made by 9am latest on the day. Shorter notice cancellations are accepted in the following weather conditions: Extreme heat, high winds, thunder and lightning storms and hail or snow.
